WOMEN OF LEGEND

WOMEN OF LEGEND is an artistic project that interweaves music and fashion, born from a collaboration between pianist Elena Chiavegato and fashion designer Emilio Bonadio. Inspired by "Femmes de Légende", a piano collection by female composer Mel Bonis, this project pays tribute to extraordinary women of legend and mythology.

Elena Chiavegato has long dedicated herself to uncovering and promoting the legacy of historical women composers, while Emilio Bonadio curates collections inspired by culturally influential female figures.

WOMEN OF LEGEND was officially launched during Paris Fashion Week 2025.

On March 2, the Avant-Première took place at the Petit Auditorium in rue de Rome, nestled in the heart of Paris’s musical district. The evening featured an in-depth presentation of the project, highlighted by live performances of selected pieces from Mel Bonis' piano collection.

On March 3, the spotlight shifted to the striking Galerie Bourbon in Avenue Marceau, where Satisfashion Paris hosted the highly anticipated fashion show. Here, Emilio Bonadio unveiled his latest collection, inspired by “Femmes de Légende”, celebrating the legacy and influence of extraordinary women through design. The project will continue its journey across Italy and Europe, with upcoming events bringing this unique blend of music, fashion, and history to new audiences.

On March 5, Elena Chiavegato had the great honor of meeting Christine Géliot—the great-granddaughter of composer Mel Bonis—as well as a distinguished French author, pianist, and music professor. During this memorable encounter, Elena was given the rare opportunity to view, handle, and study the original manuscripts of Mel Bonis' piano works. These invaluable documents are currently preserved at the Mel Bonis Association in Les Alluets-le-Roi, though they are soon to be donated to the National Library of France. The association also safeguards several personal belongings of the composer, offering a deeper glimpse into her life and legacy.
